Materials Required

• Paper cup
• Jute rope
• Scissors
• Tape

Procedure

Step 1: Take A Paper Cup

Take any paper cup of your choice. See that the size is medium. This is one of the main materials for our jute weaving craft as we will be weaving the entire flower basket using it. Make sure that the cup is in a good state and that there are no damages on it.

Step 2: Cut The Cup In A Pattern

Use the scissors to cut long slices of the cup from its mouth. Do not cut it fully. Cut it only before the base. Keep each slice of equal length and width.

Step 3: Placing The Patterned Cup

Turn the cup upside down and gently give pressure on its base. This will help the slices to spread out like flower petals. Place the slices properly one after the other with an equal distance between each slice. Look at the picture carefully for proper positioning of the cup.

Step 4: Begin The Jute Weaving

Take the jute rope and stick one of its ends to the base of the cup with a tape. Now, carefully follow the picture for the directions of the rope to be weaved in through the cup. The weaving goes in this way – the rope will first go from beneath one slice then come from above the next slice. This will continue.

Step 5: Multiple Layers Of Jute Weaving For The Flower Basket

Continue the above-mentioned weaving pattern. We can see that we have completed some layers. The weaving is already starting to look so beautiful. Keep going with the weaving pattern just like a rhythm.

Step 6: Weaving The Flower Basket

After certain layers of weaving, you can see that the shape of the flower basket is now visible. The have become inversed to form the shape of the flower basket. Keep weaving, this already looks so great!

Step 7: Finishing The Jute Weaving

Complete the last of the weaving left. Weave till the very top of the cup so that all you can is the rope and not the cup.
